Tokyo Fiber’09 Senseware is an exhibition that features innovations in material technologies.  It was presented at the Triennale as part of the Fuori Salone Milano 2009.

As we enter the exhibit, the crowd is greeted by a large surface of flowing water that spells out SENSEWARE, the name of the exhibition.  Monert is an Ultra-water repellent fabric.  Due to the NANO-TEX processing method, this fabric has the ability to repel water and stains for an extremely long time.  Each invidual fiber is treated with nano-scale water-repellent resin to ensure that the fabric remains breathable.  This also allows the fabric to retain is original look and feel.

Fukitorimushi is a cleaning robot designed by Panasonic Corporation to be your little helper at home.  It has an outer fabric covering of NANOFRONT material.  NANOFRONT is a polyester fiber that demonstrates superior wiping capability, absorbing oil film and fine dust smaller in size than a micron.

Luccon is a high strength concrete embedded with large numbers of luminous optic fibers, ESKA, that allows light through making the material translucent.  ESKA plastic optical fiberis developed by Mitsuishi Rayon Co Ltd., and the Luccon concrete is by Luccon Lichtbeton GmbH.
